The first time I ever saw this bird I was walking in a park and just had to stand still and think, was it really that blue as I thought it was?! Loved it! The Eastern Bluebird. I just recently looked up their Latin name and that is even prettier. The sialia sialis. That has a ring to it, don’t you think?
It has been hard to get a nice photo of these flying blue beauties. Some quick shots when I was lucky to find one taking a restl in a tree for a bit when I was walking here and there. Until last week….
A friend has an Eastern Bluebird nest in his yard and we staked out by it. Such a great experience. To have the camera ready and just wait…… Such a luxury!
The nesting box is specially made for Bluebirds. All conform to their likings and such.
The male and female were flying back and forward a lot to feed the young ones with all sorts of food in their beak.
Here’s the female with all sorts of creepy crawlers to feed her kids with.
Dad just had an eye for finding worms. Such a beautiful thing to see from that close.
Love the shadow from the spider in her beak, which was very much alive by the way….
Dad had some cool moves flying in and out of their nest. What beautiful and striking birds! And what a joy to just sit down and watch them feed their five little ones for a while.
