Last week I was traveling in Oregon & Washington State. Loved every minute of it. And am pretty sure I will post some pictures of it too. But want to tell you my funny but lucky experience 🙂 On my last day there I started the morning in downtown Seattle. Seattle is one of my favorite cities. Really like its architectural buildings and the whole atmosphere is so nice I think. But I had been traveling the country side the days before and Seattle traffic was something else. On my way to finding my hotel the day before I was in a big traffic mess. No fun at all. And even though Seattle on a Saturday morning is easy going around noon I felt like leaving the city. So looked on the map and thought to go for a drive and use some ferries to cross the water scenes a bit.
Well getting to one of those ferries brought me to Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. As the ferry terminal is right in front of its entrance. And since I just missed the ferry I decided to go for a drive in the park. And what a great park it was. They have a 5 mile one way drive. With a great number of stops to park your car and lots of trails to walk too. So I did walk one of the trails.
There are some really old Douglaas firs (one was even over 450 years old) But while walking I thought I heard a Bald Eagle. So headed a bit to where I thought I heard it. And all I saw was a beautiful view with some Madrona trees. Which I really like by the way. The colors of those trees ar so pretty. And get only prettier when it’s raining as they turn this dark red. Anyways, while I’m making a picture of the view I hear the eagle again. Screaming…..
So as I am taking my second shot I look up and there is……
A bald eagle! It just photo bombed my picture! How cool was that? Completely in stealth mode it flew by! All happened in 2 seconds tops. It was huge! And it was sooooo close. Was bummed that I didn’t see where it was coming from but I was determined I needed a second change in seeing him fly by again. They are such majestic birds. So I waited. And waited… And waited a bit more. Missed another ferry or two. And just when I was thinking I really ran out of luck because it was about to start raining in any minute, there it was again. Gliding through the very strong winds. Sooo cool!! But it was so heading in the wrong direction.
But it surprised me once again as it did an in air U- turn and stylish figure 8 and made a perfect 2nd fly-by! On eye level. Wow!!!! Just wow!!!
So Amazing! Thank you Mr. Eagle! You totally made my day! 🙂
