Roots, to keep things grounded. The fallen tree in the picture is still a little bit rooted, but all leading into the water so nothing to hold on to. I think it’s so beautiful, and so very delicate and fragile. All its elegant lines lead to the water as if it just knows its way to survive. Yet the truth is the few roots won’t be able to save the tree. Its beauty is still there, and for sure worth a picture or two. If it was only to make its beauty last a little longer.
Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.
~ Henry David Thoreau
