Blazing beauties I think. They are just stunning flowers, the Lotus water lilies. Bold but elegant at the same time.
I knew about a little lotus pond in a neighborhood not far from where I live and this week I finally got out there. It was a cloudy morning and not too hot yet so took my chances and headed out with the camera.
It was such a beautiful sight when I got there. Didn’t no where to start. So many flowers, so little time…. Few were open, some were still closed and some were about to open. What a joy to be there with a camera to try and capture that beauty.
The soft and gentle colors just go with everything. You feel calmer already, just by looking at them.
If you look closer every little detail is just perfect after opening up. The fine lines on their petals are fascinating to me. Just perfect.
Even the leaves of the lotus are special I think. Big and nicely circled. So that water collects in it. Again with those great lines of structure.
The details on them are just so beautiful. Absolutely striking and serene. They really make you clear your mind and ‘zen’ in their company. Which, with everything that’s going on in the world these days, is a nice thing to experience.
And I wasn’t the only one enjoying them that morning. Bees were buzzing away too.
The dragon fly showed its balancing act to me….
And then I spotted this one, hiding among the big leaves….
He probably wasn’t all to happy seeing me as much as I was about seeing him. His look wasn’t all that welcoming. I was stirring things up in his pond during breakfast hour. 😉
But after he realized I wasn’t there to share some bites of the numerous frogs in the pond, he went back to fishing. I had a great time and enjoyed an hour of serenity with the Lotus. I wish everybody had some time to experience peace and serenity while watching Lotus flowers. Just be happy for a little while. The world would be a better place.
How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
Whoever is happy will make others happy too.I don’t think of all the misery, but of all the beauty that still remains.
Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.~ Anne Frank
