Summer color

It took me time to understand my water lilies. I had planted them for the pleasure of it; I grew them without ever thinking of painting them.

~ Claude Monet

Even though I love a pure white serene water lily and Lotus, I learned to enjoy the bright colors they can have as well. The purple with the yellow have the perfect opposites on the color wheel. Bright & popping, but still bringing a kind of harmony. The green and hot pink, same thing. And probably that’s what I like. Flowers in harmony.

Add textures to that harmony and it can’t go wrong. Perfect lines and wonderful flowers in harmony.

Nature seemed to have adorned herself for our departure with a profusion of fringes and curls, mingled with the bright tints of flowers, reflected in the water. But we missed the white water-lily, which is the queen of river flowers……

~ Henry David Thoreau
